ha ha ha what if multiple generations of consumers realized that ads dont deliver on their promises and decided that this meant that the Yearnings exploited by the ads were actually bad ha ha ha wouldnt that be an incredible self-own ha ha

@eigenrobot this formula is part of the larger pattern of distrust that's very zeitgeisty If I can show that X is aping Y, and that X is (hypocritical, shallow, wrong, immoral, questionable) .... then Y is bad, because I find X distasteful So much of the culture war follows that pattern
