True of me as well. Had to rederive what loyalty even is in order to understand this. https://t.co/IiSGz3yHqU

Though maybe I mean a different thing than Nick. I'd call this thing he's calling loyalty something more like "commitment" or "sticktoitiveness". https://t.co/3pIFPbK0MZ

I'm also not saying I think people should have a lot of this loyalty thing. Have as much as you non-naively can. The important thing is more like "that peoples' loyalty or lack thereof moves mountains." Who would you move across the world to be with? Who'd move to be with you?

@AskYatharth Questions like these and dozens of related ones: > Who would you move across the world to be with? > Who'd move to be with you? Strong loyalty in my frame comes not from commitment but from profound self-understanding and capacity to discern what you will follow through on.

@AskYatharth When someone asks "Will you marry me?" you can frame the response as a commitment... but what if it were just a *fact*? "Will a cup of water left out evaporate?" Yes. Of course. How could it be otherwise? "Will you marry me?" Yes. Of course. How could it be otherwise?
