@ChanaMessinger @ThetaGrunberg @ozyfrantz Remember: morality first evolved and is best modelled as a system for assigning culpability, not necessarily in a way that reflects the “truth,” but that gets the (social coordination) job done.

Core thesis: Just like “lust” evolved as an emotion in our head . . . to keep animals reproducing . . . so did the feeling of morality. That sense that somebody is a bad person? It was a way for social primates to cohere as a group and enforce normed survival.

I think a lot more relationships would be clearer if they eschewed the talk of morality in conflicts and instead just focused on what is—their feelings and the degree to which they do care about the intertwingling of those together. https://t.co/8TL4gJc51B

sometimes people people internalize it violently, it gets deployed violently people come to dislike morality sometimes it keeps your community running those people tend to like morality
