the thing I loved and miss most about tumblr is how casually literary it was. It was full of book nerds who just referenced literature, not to impress anybody but because it was their frame of reference. There’s a riff from tumblr (a marker of tumblr speech? a tumblr accent?) that goes something like “impudent fools. derelict wenches. how dare you even conceive of conspiring against me-“ I recognized it in a tweet and the person mentioned they lifted it from tumblr in the next
