one of my talking points is "I believe philosophy departments should be 50% staffed by children" – and a common response is that people think I'm doing a sort of silly and cute joke bit to make people laugh. but I am not. I am being absolutely serious

every single one of these things should be treated with the same respect and reverence we give any prestigious "thought leader". And I don't mean this in a "humor the children" way. I mean that they have important and valuable perspectives to contribute https://t.co/ojU6QOdSfQ

the handful of ppl that we call geniuses are typically those who have protected the wild spirit of their inner-child-self into adulthood, fending off good-intentioned domestication I believe we could have 1000x more geniuses if we took children seriously https://t.co/mfB8q8dGir

“What makes him unusual is not just the size of his fears but his manner of hanging onto them. Rather than bury those shaming moments of childhood vulnerability, as most of us do, he nourished their memory, translated them into bold cinematic images”. https://t.co/mIRS0rLYXj

to solve the big problems of our age, we need bold imagination and nobody has more imagination than children again I don't mean "wouldn't it be cute to have children address us haha" I mean we ignore, dismiss and shush them at our own peril https://t.co/IQswF10357

This is great – dad illustrating his son's doodles. Love how careful the dad is to incorporate every little detail https://t.co/t9OLzwU5kU https://t.co/tteKaZhIxQ

yes childrens' utterances are imperfect, and they can reveal ignorance and cluelessness etc. but that's where adults come in. we can work *together*. we can rely on each other's strengths to make up for our weaknesses and shortcomings https://t.co/Upsqzmjgu1

imagine this, but it's the whole species why not let's make it happen talk to the kids in your life and take them seriously ask your nephews and nieces what they think you should do with your life, quick, before they grow up https://t.co/ydt6SnsX9a

Nietzsche: "Ought it to be the task of philosophy to reconcile that which the child has learned and the man has come to know? Ought philosophy to be the special task of youths, since these stand midway between child and man and have needs common to both?" https://t.co/ZXtgHov0we

@visakanv another classic: "Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children." -- The Madman, Khalil Gibran

@visakanv I don’t think children should literally be in philosophy departments for various reasons but yeah https://t.co/ZWE4k7dtvl

no one: 4yo: How did we start our life like this? What am I even saying? I’m so confused! What is wrong with me?! What am I saying?? It’s been a long time since we have been made. How did the whole earth start like this? Who invented it? Who made the world of earth? https://t.co/mZO25Qcgjt
