WWE content has always featured strongly on Wikipedia, and recently the "list of WWE personnel" page became THE most edited page, overtaking George Bush. W hat I'm startled by is how multiple authors seem to assume "wikipedia editors love WWE" rather than "WWE nerds edit wiki" https://t.co/xKZT3zT7pX

I don't want to draw too much attention to the author who wrote one of these articles from years ago, but it's on/from a site that prides itself on being "data-driven" – and the author is in a "data editor" role at a major news site now could be a careless slip but worrying

my general approach for avoiding the "wet streets cause rain" bungle is to just mentally reverse every causative statement real quick. "What if it were the other way around?" if it doesn't seem to make a difference, it probably means I don't understand what I'm talking about

sometimes a thing can be a catalyst– like you drink to cope because you're doing badly, and then you start to do worse because you're becoming an alcoholic. chronology helps to disentangle things. the "activation energy" or "uphill vs downhill" nature of things also helps

it's weird to type these things and to realize that I have a whole system of elaborate tinker-thinking that is almost completely unconscious last time I tried to articulate a facet of this was talking out loud about going on a google hunt https://t.co/o1Mah3RnhW

Over time you start looking for simple true/false statements that you can then attempt to verify: - melanin is a variable that affects skin color - stratum lucidum is an additional layer of skin on palms and soles You want to disentangle the chain of causes and effects https://t.co/k8cQmwHamv
