4/ You might be afraid that what happens without your premeditation will be bad. But...how do you know? Maybe you have a couple examples of where things went poorly. This is unscientific. The only way to know for sure is to increase your sample size.

5/ Improvisation is especially important when the individual notes are scripted. The difference between a skilled pianist and a profound pianist is that the profound pianist improvises on everything *except* that which is scripted (notes, meter).
