Ok I was going to reference a thing I'd said before where "people who think they're the good guys are usually the furthest from it" but I guess that's not something I've said here? Or I can't find it by searching for "(good|bad) (guy|person|people)" so fuck it we do it live

People who think they're Good are usually Bad People who are worried they're Bad are usually Good People who know this and think they're Bad, knowing that it makes them Good? Are usually Bad, but harmlessly so. People who don't believe in Good and Bad? Are as Bad as it gets.

I am probably in the "Good and Evil are fake as fuck" camp, for the record So I think I'm Bad So I think I'm Bad while knowing that Bad means Good, making me Bad Which is circular horseshit so I don't believe in either Circularly https://t.co/oglIQoKriC

@SkinnerPm There is no us vs them. There is never us vs them. There's only us. Even them! They haven't got the memo yet, or they haven't had it set in, but they're us too. Us vs them is an illusion designed to perpetuate the status quo. If the world is sick, that's what needs to change.

Noting that other people are Internally Bad is done for one of two reasons: - to stop having to see them as people or feel any burden to help them - so that you can feel smugly superior about being Internally Good (despite any "missteps" you make) https://t.co/4cyAOIcjHO

The current moral failing that stands out to me most is the reductive way that people divide the world into Good Guys and Bad Guys. https://t.co/oglIQoKriC Nobody is the villain of their own story (some people think they are, but that's an ego-defense for akrasia)

> Do you hold yourself to your own rules? Of course, that's why I try not to have any here > Then, what is Good? Good things are good, jesus. Help people out, don't cause a ruckus, it's not that complicated https://t.co/chtYjQEO6h

> So would you say people who do that are Bad then? 😏 Yes. Well I wouldn't say it, that would be too obviously contradictory. But I would say some patronizing shit like "everyone has their own path to truth 😌", "not everyone is lucky enough to be moral," or what the fuck ever

@gptbr00ke There's a few ways to see demons, that basically come down to "where are you looking." Or, what kinds of demons are there. Been working on getting more in touch with the demons in my own head: https://t.co/DGu4VdI5aP

@juicyjonjames @jackpo773 @Aella_Girl My general meta-level point is that people are complex, multifaceted, and not easily summed up as "good" or "bad". It's reasonable to have nuanced, tricky, even self-contradictory opinions about a person if you try to look at them as a whole.

I think I crystalized this idea by cribbing from Aella's blog? I'm blessed to have not-a-racist privilge, not by dint of moral superiority, but by circumstance of environment. https://t.co/6V0miQ1MVf

@visakanv In particular my thought here is "well, how do you know what you know? Was there a time you learned that racism was bad, or have you always known it from day one?" We have a lot of hate for people who "should" know things by now, and it's hard for the average person to 1/

I guess admitting that you don't control your own moral intuitions cedes ground against the idea of free will against a deterministic universe, and that trades righteous anger for cosmic uncertainty yeah small wonder why people aren't buying my philosophy books

the problem of Evil is mostly because people think Evil is a thing, where the reality is more banal, more horrifying Evil doesn't exist (at all but roll with it) as some kind of Test, but because Why Not https://t.co/bhn1jOD2D1

People like to talk about The Problem Of Evil in theology "But if God is kind and loving, then why is there bad?" maybe because this is what you fuckers deserve

@AlexandraErin I thought I was going to read this whole thread before responding, but the banality of evil is so boring and bland that it made me have to stop. https://t.co/MiGxtxzFUq The horrors that people who can't be bothered to feel strongly one way or another is sobering.

No I don't really think I'm a bad person, I just say that all the time in my internal monologue with I'm sure no negative downstream effects whatsoever.

People are complicated If you repeatedly reduce people to either "good" or "bad" then great news asshole, you're a bad one https://t.co/hVHf2moMoQ

The only good person is a person who realizes that there are no good [or bad] people, and thus treats everyone with care and respect, knowing that anyone could snap at any moment https://t.co/BwbGnZn7Sv

Monsters do bad things, therefore ONLY monsters do bad things, therefore what I am doing MUST be a good thing, because I am not a monster https://t.co/KmUV7BJNoU
