It’s a PULL saw (as most Japanese woodworking saws are I’ve learned) meaning the actual cutting is done on the pull stroke, as opposed to western style saws that are mostly push saws

This gives a bit more control, and facilitates precision and “letting the saw do the work” Much like you let the knife do the work when using chefs knives https://t.co/RnoVE1tWIZ
