@maybegray @GeniesLoki my sense is: machismo is a challenging aesthetic to manifest earnestly without overselling. so in the mainstream marketplace, it's all overselling WWE machismo-as-drag is fun, but because everyone knows it's drag X For Men!! doesn't have that self awareness

@SarahAMcManus Yeah, I think it's hard to earnestly play the role of “divine feminine/masculine” without realising how constructed/weird they are . . . and to earnestly play the role of “normal person” once you’ve experience the reality of the gender roles It’s just 🤷 non-dual

@SarahAMcManus drag is non-dual to normalcy they contain a bit of each other in the drag actor, you see a twinge of horrifying earnestness in the normalcy, you see the sheer cognitive work in the performed normalcy of it all
