a great example of what I'll call [[surrogate selfing]] = unsustainable but super-useful role where A takes on caring for all of B's parts when B is identified with one part/perspective, or otherwise unable to access Self and just feels like a collection of arguing parts https://t.co/ULra4qyqM2

Yatharth is siding with one intention (work out to feel good) in OPPOSITION to another (cry because working out feels bad). Because I'm helping him he ASSUMES I'm aligned with the intention he is aligned with (I'm not, I'm aligned with THE BEST POSSIBLE GLOBAL INTENTION FOR HIM)

@Malcolm_Ocean surrogate self = blending in IFS? IFS’s most interesting postulate always was the existence “The Self,” a true leader that not any part. Same with “Core State” in Core Transformation. = a state of looseness, lack of delusion and clining?

@AskYatharth Without much exposure to IFS, I rederived Self a few months ago and it's clear to me that it is a thing. Tho my rederivation isn't intrinsically functional actually; more just that everyone necessarily has a "selfing function"—whatever system (consciousness?) organizes thoughts

@AskYatharth Afaict, both IFS Self & Core States are aspects of the right hemisphere, and the appearance that they come & go is due to increasing or decreasing awareness/consciousness of them, but still there just like stomach is there even when not thinking of it. https://t.co/JcUqz21Z8J
