] Unfortunate fact: Alexander Technique lessons wear off. Your first lesson is amazing. You have a sense of ease and aliveness, this new way of being seems so simple, and you take it with you for a few hours. Then it goes away. You try to get it back โ€“ and get stuck. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

] "What was I doing that made me feel so good? Oh it must have been..." <long list of not the things you were doing> This is normal. Alexander Technique is actually the process of getting out of that traps like that. I saw this a lot during my teacher training.

] It's so common for a trainee (I did this too) to say "I've got it! It's about being aware of the space above me while I do stuff!" And that works for a week โ€” and then the week after it doesn't. Suddenly it becomes "noticing what I notice" or whatever other trick works.

] Over time I developed my own definition of Alexander Technique, at least as applied to the training process. "Alexander Technique is the skill of being able to continually let go of what you thought it was." It's a way to let go of held beliefs and associated behaviours.

] Internalising this means repeated interactions with new 'tricks' to take you back into that precious, light, expansive state of awareness. Those tricks can be metaphors, games, activities, etc. They come from a teacher who knows the traps and has already walked your path.

] I realise that I will face the same problem with the online course. Going through it once will give students 'an experience'. But, as they practice in their own lives, they'll wind up getting stuck. They'll need help to progressively notice and get out of the traps.

] To address this, anyone who enrols in my online Alexander Technique course will have lifetime access. Over time I will build up a library of resources highlighting the traps and providing multiple ways out of them. I want to take my students as far as they can go.

] In a couple of weeks I will open up pre-orders for c. 50 spaces at around $50 for 'believers' who are happy with a more raw structure and can give feedback, which I'll then iterate on. The price will then go up incrementally as I develop the course and open it up more widely.

Meta] Also, if you want to dive much deeper into this stuff, I have built what I believe is the only asynchronous online course that explores Alexander Technique from a first principles perspective. You can find out more and stay up to date by going here: https://t.co/GHzsyr4ILq
