The phrase "that'll teach them a lesson!" involves a deep confusion around how learning works. "I can't teach you, I can only SHOW you." Show cruelty, and people will learn cruelty. Show anger, and people will learn anger. Show resent, and people will learn resent. https://t.co/ZqtBuIAO4u

you cannot insult, harass, shame, embarass and coerce people into becoming better people. because what they'll learn from it is that insults, harassment, shaming and coercion are how you get things done
