"what do you mean by well-prepared?" well, I already have a thread about this. that's what I mean by well-prepared https://t.co/wJv27Mykis

I want to solve big problems. most of the people whom I've seen attempt to solve big problems seem to have failed. common assumption here is: this is because big problems are hard. I'm not a fan of that frame. my belief is that most attempts fail because of lack of preparation

there's a limited amount of conversation space that most people operate in. you can actually pretty much survey, study and map out that entire conversation space, and "complete" it. it's actually pretty similar to say, learning all they scales and chords and keys in western music

many people will quibble over "oh, it's never REALLY complete, music/conversation/art/etc is INFINITE" yeah yeah i'm talking about practical completeness it's *possible* to learn Basically Every Song. It's not ACTUALLY every song, but it's enough that it looks like magic

there are only 12 notes in an octave, and you hardly ever use all of them. everything is made up of other things. things are knowable. you can spend a lifetime exploring the nuances, yes, but there are thresholds you can cross remarkably early if you just put in the work

same with cooking, right?? salt, acid, fat, heat. protein, fat, carbs. olive oil. butter. red meat, white meat. bread pasta rice. like... yeah, you can go look up weird and obscure things, but everything is just variations of those basics things

I think the big wtf learning of my 20s is/was that lots of things that seem intractably hard are actually not *that* hard, not ~prohibitively~ hard. if you play the wrong note in music, there's a note on either site of the wrong note that would work

hard is not even the right frame, ykwim? everything is gradients. the question is, what is a thing that you want to do? you wanna draw a face? you can learn to do that! start by learning to draw boxes. you can draw hundreds of boxes in an evening and be a better artist overnight

I'm serious I tried that one out myself video games are addictive because the gradient is painstakingly made for you project management when you make the gradient for yourself, that's how you learn and accomplish anything substantial design your own game and make it fun https://t.co/x20DFHNVSF

tweet! make threads! compile the threads into blogposts! compile the blogposts into ebooks! sell the ebooks! god, I wish I could clone myself so I could live multiple lives and do multiple things simultaneously, I am too much for this one meatbag

I can! talk to people! talk to tens of thousands of people! make friends! talk about their lives with them! followup with them! go in different directions and do different things and share your findings! THERE'S ALWAYS A MOVE

funny moment when I Already Had A Thread For That https://t.co/fQuunkonrU
