1] A crucial skill in life is learning how not to respond to stimuli. In a minute I'm going to ask you to pick a colour. (Stimulus) . Are you already thinking about colours? (Response). I said "in a minute". Notice, without judgement, how you responded. Let's do it again.

2] In a minute I'm going to ask you to pick a colour. Pause. You don't need to know what it is yet. Instead of picking a colour, choose the present moment. And again. And again. Get familiar with this space. Fall in love with not knowing. Choose the present moment again.

3] This is non-doing. Now, from within this space of not needing to know what colour you'll pick, gently allow a colour to arise. Stay with the present moment: the colour you choose is not more important than the vividness of your life right now. What was that like?

Meta] Also, if you want to dive much deeper into this stuff, I have built what I believe is the only asynchronous online course that explores Alexander Technique from a first principles perspective. You can find out more and stay up to date by going here: https://t.co/GHzsyr4ILq
