China's severe and immediate response (which by now makes a bit more sense) was recreated to some degree by its neighbors. South Korea, Taiwan, Japan are doing ok. But to say the Western governments fumbled is generous, implying some accident of poor luck and bad timing.

First, it was music festivals. Major conferences. There was shock: Coachella!? not Coachella! South by Southwest!? Then it was every conference. Every festival. Then it was concerts. Then it was church. Now whole cities, whole states.

Which will do more damage in the long run: the virus or the efforts to contain it? What does the Patriot Act: Pandemic Edition look like? What's a post-Corona America and world feel like? Only time will tell, though plenty of folks have thoughts they'll share if you listen.
