There is a war between the ones who say there is a war and the ones who say there isn't https://t.co/eFbjSrPMtT

This ๐ is one of my favorite paradoxes. First-level interpretation is that "the ones who say there isn't" are simply wrong. https://t.co/hMv2Msci0r

If I think we're in full agreement, and you think we're not... you're right. (old heuristic I developed that I don't take as seriously anymore but still find interesting & sometimes useful. important to note that the disagreement might just be one of phrasing, not meaning)

But there's a deeper level, which is like: are you going to choose to orient to whatever's happening as a war? Or as something else? What meaning are you making of what's happening? What's possible, based on that meaning? https://t.co/XWr8YYDQ4B

Then if you consider someone who is aligned with a non-war meaning, but is saying, "There is a war between the ones who say there is a war and the ones who say there isn't" (probably including Leonard Cohen) They're saying "BOTH either/or AND both/and": https://t.co/DLkVeiFa6H

Both/And thinking and Either/Or thinking don't have a symmetric relationship. BA can contain EO but not the reverse. In Both/And thinking, you can have BOTH both/and AND either/or. In Either/Or thinking, you can have EITHER both/and OR either/or.
