Reply to this tweet with a prompt and I'll recommend you a book. The book might even be related to the prompt if you're lucky.

@GeniesLoki Whoa! πŸ’“ I am really excited to read these β€” seems extremely timely. Depressed people are actually in a process of resilience, IMO

@m_ashcroft Focusing by Gendlin (Seriously, defanging procrastination is a huge benefit of Focusing for me)

@GeniesLoki Okay a question on Focusing. Do you do it at a set time each day like meditation, and if so for how long, or do you do it ad hoc?

@m_ashcroft @GeniesLoki Get the audiobook πŸ‘‡ so you can actually let his voice guide you rather than trying to close your eyes & remember the instructions. (Also recommended by Ann Weiser-Cornell is to schedule times with a friend where you take turns Focusing & holding space.) https://t.co/DU6guccRos

@m_ashcroft @GeniesLoki *Anne. Anyway, I personally found that Focusing didn't really work for me at all compared to Bio-Emotive (which is based on Focusing). I've drafted a write-up comparing them from my perspective here: https://t.co/cpoNBdzxRe

@Malcolm_Ocean @m_ashcroft FWIW part of the reason I like Focusing so much is that it's a very flexible debugging tool for figuring out what's up . I still haven't really managed to figure out NEDERA but it makes sense that it would be a more powerful tool for change when you can apply it

@GeniesLoki @m_ashcroft Yeah I see Focusing as being more general & flexible, and NEDERA as being more targeted & powerful.

@Malcolm_Ocean @m_ashcroft Yeah, which I think makes Focusing a good foundational skill that's worth learning in its own right. I haven't really ever had a big transformation from it but it's been a big help in guiding myself to them. (Also it's very good for helping unwind triggers in the moment)

@GeniesLoki @m_ashcroft I think I have this feeling that people who only learn Focusing will tend not to really touch whole swaths of repressed & denied feelings, whereas NEDERA makes it really obvious when this is happening, and is fairly good (in many cases) at finding a way in.

@Malcolm_Ocean @m_ashcroft Yeah that makes sense. I certainly wouldn't recommend people *only* learn Focusing, but it was like step one on my journey and it was a very good first step that has put me on a very solid foundation I think.
