Here’s a trick: Whenever you’re working 👩💻 and feel bored 🥱, distracted 😒, or just plain don’t want to work 😫 . . . Take a boredom break. Set a timer for 7–18 minutes. Rules are: You just have to sit there 🪑. No phones, no exercising—just sitting there. Bored. 1/n

It sounds weird, but boredom breaks work ✅ By the end of the ⌛️, you’ll be so bored you’ll be *itching* to get back to work. Don’t fight the 🥱😒😫 . . . just take a boredom break and come back in 10ish minutes happier, calmer, and more productive. 2/n

Why do boredom breaks work? Our minds run 🌀long loops🌀 (“this work assignment will advance my career”) and ➰short loops➰ (“aah this seems boring/useless, save energy for sth else”) Boredom breaks deprive short loops of their stimuli & reward. Call it Meditation Lite®️. 3/n

To adapt a famous Buddhist metaphor . . . Training the mind with boredom 🏋️♀️🧠 is like training an young elephant by tying it to a stake 🐘➰. “At first, the elephant lunges in every direction, trying to escape. When it realizes it can’t, it lies down and goes to sleep.” 4/4
