a nice thing about quoting other people's ideas is it removes *responsibility* for having the idea; if it's your idea and someone goes "that's a dumb idea" then *you're* dumb, but if it's someone else's you can just say "ha yeah, they're dumb eh" https://t.co/B4YDg3Bw0j

ironically i'm now gonna quote someone else: keith johnstone said a similar thing in impro about artists censoring their creativity out of worry about how it reflects on them, rather than e.g. seeing art as something that pours out of but doesn't belong to the artist https://t.co/Tflw0EYCW1

@RoamResearch in roam i use a lot of pages for short important words and it makes copying other people's text into it a cool experience; i read the text differently as i'm 1) scanning for words i want to make pages for and 2) finding out where else those words appear in my roam https://t.co/M5SVYL9QYp

2) is fun even if the only place the words appear is elsewhere in the text; then the text gets linked up to itself more densely
