An interesting corollary to this is that almost every master who is recognised, is recognised because she *wanted* to be recognised, and adjusted her presentation accordingly https://t.co/Vx6DflNvWB

The primary alternative to this is when the master has a follower who recognises his brilliance, and conveys it to others. If it’s truly brilliant, you’ll have to *fight* for people to see it. They won’t see it otherwise https://t.co/sY2z5j1PCQ https://t.co/pIVP0mIzSz

There’s a small tiny % of “accidental/lucky recognition events”, which tend to get disproportionate media coverage. Also, many masters will deliberately choose to craft such an origin myth about themselves. (Eg: every cult leader ever)

But just as “a fool and his money are soon parted”, a master of some domain... who isn’t simultaneously a master (or advised by a master) of optics... will often pretty quickly lose their currency if it was gotten via a lucky lottery win https://t.co/Xd67O9KdYp

A thing can become “objectively” more valuable by changing the lens through you look at it, by rearranging the other things around it that are used as reference Perception is a hell of a drug

Infinite game-ing is about playing with frames School is a very rigid frame that trains people to think and work within a fixed frame When people first start experimenting with frames, it looks dumb and we make fun of them When they get good at it we call them geniuses https://t.co/CpgCyd8kbO

having studied celebrity/popularity etc for ~15 years I’d say my sense is there are 1, 3, 5, 7 year “cycles”. You can kinda ride a lucky break for a year or 3, with “I guess I’ll keep at it lol”, but you don’t cross 7 years without being meta-deliberate & conscientious about it

by meta-deliberate I mean you can’t just think about how to win each “game”, but you also have to think about winning the meta-games: managing your own psychology (optimize for surviving internal strife), & preempting the pitfalls (optimize for surviving external threats) https://t.co/0t9gHfiKqk

8/ A more interesting, rich form of meta-game is "how do I influence the context in which my primary game takes place".
