I can't get this idea out of my head after learning that many dogs are fond of eating goose poop.https://t.co/R72bCUP6lw

I wonder if dogs eat goose poop because they're trying to clean up possible sources of campylobacter so that their puppies don't get it. Would be a good habit for adults with healthy immune systems to do if living in a pack environment. https://t.co/uBDNiBXjvX

"You will read in several places online that dogs can get a parasite called giardia from eating goose poop. This is not true. The type of giardia that affects geese is very host-specific which means that even if a dog ingested it, they would not get sick."https://t.co/T7wyWAW0hl

Ah yes. The poop loop cycle of higher order animals."In other words, it might be that bacteria have inclined some animals toward coprophagia, creating a symbiotic loop where these higher animals can only thrive if they eat the excrement of their own kind."

A dog with a poor gut microbiome and troubled immune system due to crappy diet would be more likely to get sick eating poop. So of course people at large interpret eating poop with causing disease in dogs. But in some cases this a misinterpretation of cause/effect.

Which would bother you more? Someone who wonders if dog poop tastes nutty.Someone who doesn't.Think about it.

"A few differences between eaters and non-eaters emerged. Eaters were more likely to be found in multi-dog households, possibly because there's more to go around or maybe poop eating has a social, even learned, component."https://t.co/fR1dkHemA3
