Something just clicked for me when thinking about schools, dance, free speech, attention, attentiveness, flirting... My #1 piece of advice is ā€œbe attentiveā€ And the #1 crap response I get is ā€œI don’t wanna put in all that effort, just tell me the rules / give me the formulaā€ https://t.co/x7yfCVHXpn

But all of the fun in life - play, conversation, flirting, sex - is what you do when you’re playing *with* the rules. But that doesn’t mean you *break* the rules. You tease around them. While paying close attention. That’s the fun!! Oh my god. People don’t know how to have fun https://t.co/OCBfAUbi1l

We are desperately going to need more people who are skilled at navigating these boundaries, now that technology allows everyone to talk to everyone. And we’re bad at talking https://t.co/nYFiNsIAN8

a playground analogy: we have to learn to play with other kids we don't know, and have a good time without punching anybody's teeth out. like, a bit of hurt is understandable. a bruised knee here, a bump there. nbd. but don't be kicking a kid in the stomach and call it playtime
