Bexel is a South Korean company established in 1978. It's a fun and interesting challenge to try and learn more about them, since their Wikipedia page is practically empty. Looking at their site, they also make power banks, TVs, hoverboards, electric bikes and scooters https://t.co/kU3tozckTf

They have a plant in Gumi โ the top-down view of this part of South Korea really looks like it's from SimCity. Also, interestingly, the surrounding area seems relatively undeveloped โ I wonder why...? https://t.co/aDhQlrR3t4

- Korean battery market = US$125m - majority of batteries are imported - Bexel has ~25% market share vs Energizer ~40% - Digital door lock co iRevo ships their product with Bexel batteries I enjoy this sort of wholesome local content ๐ there's a certain homely vibe to it https://t.co/QEZTr14juJ

Interestingly, while Energizer is ~40% of the Korean market, Bexel focuses on exporting Bexel exports to 40+ countries around the world Exports worth ~$8.9m, 20% of their sales (so domestic ~$35m โ which is 25% of ~$125m market. Math all checks out) This was in ~2012 https://t.co/M760mVCSJP

LOL THEY MAKE ENERGY DRINKS THAT LOOK LIKE GIANT BATTERIES *adds "drink Bexel energy drink" to South Korea todo list* https://t.co/l1gVqQwGz0

I'm really tickled by this. This is what I love about the world, and the joy of exploring. I just wanted to know more about some batteries, and here we are watching energy drink reviews in Korean ๐ https://t.co/I431kUNwLL
