going through the threads and notes and drafts that I'm planning to weave together into a memoir, and I find myself thinking again that https://t.co/Ly5uPL5bkn

A question I get over and over again is "how do you manage your threads?" – and the answer is, I use twitter search. "but how do you search for them? how do you remember everything?" – I don't! you only see what I remember. There's probably lots of unremembered stuff

I think maybe the core challenge for me when it comes to information architecture is to create things that are memorable. and to make something memorable it has to be remarkable in some way. it has to trigger some thought, some memory, some emotion. Otherwise it fades

so there's a process here 1. assemble something that you think is good 2. forget it 3. ask yourself what you remember 4. talk about it with people the stuff that you remember was memorable. keep it. the stuff that you forgot wasn't. ditch. 5. repeat https://t.co/uF7Yd33cFn

been learning a lot about my novel by sitting on it for a year w/o looking at it, then talking about it from memory. It becomes clearer which parts of the story are strong, & which bits are weak. I forget some characters entirely, & revisit some bits and scenes more than others
