Something about this question makes me a little sick.🤔 IMO if you follow the thread of this question to its origins, it’s often rooted in a sort of Procrustean cost-benefit analysis, stripped of imagination, exploration, joy, play. The world doesn’t *need* to exist, but it does https://t.co/CEOajOR52x

@patio11 You got me thinking now. “Does the world need...” is itself a very loaded question, burdened with a tedious and anti-useful frame

@patio11 There are only two questions you need to ask 1. Does it spark joy? 2. Can you make the unit economics work?

Figured out why it makes me sick: Doing things the world “does not need” is the only way to develop taste And the world IMO clearly is in dire need of good taste - it even rewards taste with $$$ We crush the caterpillars and complain there are so few butterflies

Did the world need a pair of annoying hippie nerds hijacking infrastructure to make prank calls? Well that depends, does the world need iPhones? https://t.co/XigtwbOamG

To me, school today is like medicine before people learned about germ theory and hand-washing. Creative souls die every day and most people shrug the way they must’ve when women and children used to die in childbirth. Leaves from the vine... https://t.co/EnrzXNXgt1
