You hear a lot about “first kid in the family to make it to college” and less about “first kid to get their head above the dark waters of the family & community’s collective trauma” and “first kid in the family to actually be capable of unconditional love”

@visakanv Hard relate. I also happened to do the first kid at college thing, as well as the emotional growth thing. Tiring. Also so sad that the family don’t understand, literally cannot “see” either of those achievements. The growth makes you even more alone.
