To become more creative, then, is fundamentally about desocializing yourself. (without simultaneously becoming an antisocial asshole in the process. because creativity also often requires interfacing well with others. Also, we are social creatures and it is nice to have friends)

Self-desocialization can be a painful, tedious process, and by definition it is a lonely path to walk. This is somehow true even though, you will find, there are many others who have walked the same path before, and are walking the same path now

The best metaphor in recent times Iāve seen of ādesocializationā in modern media is from Starcraft 2. The Protoss are connected to each other psychically via their ānerve cordsā. This gets hijacked by a malicious third party. āWhat will we be without the Khala?ā āFree.ā

Zeratul of the Dark Templar (the outcasts), realizes this. Rather than kill Artanis (which he could, but it would solve nothing, really), he sacrifices his own life so that Artanis might see the truth my life,,, for Aiur https://t.co/SfexQ8U2pt

Artanis (notice that he's using one of Zeratul's green psi-blade thingies... š¢š) then goes on to persuade Rohana (she's like, uh... the Protoss Pope) to sever her nerve cords as well https://t.co/8bfauex44k

"Without the Khala, what will we become?" "Free." https://t.co/bpq9UXiXFU

Anyway, don't read too deep into the Starcraft reference, it's just a story that I really enjoyed. Back to the socialization riff ā kids are natural poets until they are socialized to Speak Normal. Which ofc is correlated with Think Normal, Be Normal https://t.co/3nRWasbbrM

āBy middle/high school, the average student has learned how normal people talk. The resulting language is underwhelming and predictable - the safe regurgitations of a thoroughly socialized consciousness.ā https://t.co/5evo3vYThl https://t.co/qfpwv2A94k
