there's this very annoying thing that disagreeable people do where they respond to something with "this is incorrect" and then elaborate by giving you another statement that does not in any way refute the original statement; ie A and B can both be true https://t.co/EI3zkLWOA4

Like, actually, Chris hasn't even said anything yet. All he's said is "I'm going to write an essay about X" and the person replies with "that is incorrect" – ??? how do you even know? how can you refute an argument you haven't read

Like, who made you arbiter of what is correct and incorrect, anyway? Why not just say "I don't think so", or "I don't see things that way", or "I have another perspective". "THAT IS INCORRECT" lmao, pls

@Qbe_Root @priya_ebooks We are not in disagreement. What are you saying "no" to? Both our tweets coexist perfectly

@visakanv You can refute a conclusion for an argument you haven't read. A stupid move, but possible, I guess?

@visakanv Like, if you expect you know more about the subject than the person whose argument is about to be made, and you think their conclusion is wrong, you can so no, you're wrong. Generally a bad idea unless somebody's trying to make a perpetual motion machine or something though.

@visakanv This is incorrect. The second statement is intended to provide a correct way of viewing the situation. (Or, to avoid the format: they're not providing counterarguments, they're saying "actually, this is the truth")

@imhinesmi yeah but Chris wasn't saying "AOC is the first Extremely Online politician and this is the #1 reason why she's winning", he just said "AOC is the first Extremely Online politician", which by itself is basically correct

@visakanv Person number two was disagreeing with AOC being the first Extremely Online politician, saying that being on twitter a lot is insufficient to be Extremely Online, I think.

@imhinesmi that's very generous! I don't think he's making an argument at all; I think he's just reacting negatively without having even properly considered what he's reacting to

@visakanv And then assuming that you, dear reader, are capable of reading their minds through the internet to know their reasoning, a feat everyone except them is capable of.
