Sometimes I legit feel like an alien and the vast sea of humanity makes me feel really sick. I can rationalize my way back to something resembling sanity because it’s necessary for continued functioning, but I don’t... like it. I try to accept it; and I manage it most of the time

The trigger this time is... flags 😂 Sets of symbols - lines and shapes and colours - that people associate with, identify with, fight in the name of, die for, drape their coffins with I know, people have always been this way, warring tribes and bands of monkeys and so on... https://t.co/QISuFag9bi

It’s funny; sometimes people describe me as almost sociopathic in my indifference to things. I can suddenly stop caring about something and switch off entirely, I think because existence is fundamentally meaningless. sometimes my hardware crashes from all the BS & needs to reboot https://t.co/XE3gfSyIuU

And at the same time, sometimes I get questions like, “Visa why do you bother so much? Why do you try so hard? Why do you care...?” I care like hell and I don’t care at all, somehow both of these things are true, sometimes simultaneously https://t.co/gBfX1k0Bgc

I sometimes use the analogy of a machine gun for describing how my 🧠 works. Y’all usually see it when it’s firing, which is when it’s fun. But it’s also cumbersome, jams easily, & hard to aim, which is not fun. Dawning on me that this is true for ❤️ too https://t.co/2N9kLMZt9A

@nickarner I sometimes think of the ADHD mind as a Gatling gun - it takes a while to warm up, jams easily and is harder to aim, but once you appreciate its idiosyncrasies you can use it effectively https://t.co/vLx282m83G

Anyway. I don’t need any help or sympathy or anything. (Will let you know if I do, promise!) I’m just chilling while waiting for my OS to reboot from the latest crash. Mostly this is to see who else relates. Regular programming in 3...2...1... https://t.co/o9LrrGdoX2

Like I’m trying to run human.exe on Alien OS, which requires all sorts of funny hacks and workarounds, and mostly works, but sometimes yields really weird bugs https://t.co/ePZccskNdk

A big part of this is because I often feel like functioning in normal human society requires more effort for me than for other people
