I'm personally convinced that the best thing you can do as - a writer, is to be mindful of your own behavior as a reader - a marketer, is to be mindful of your own behavior as a consumer in some ways, it teaches you more than anything 3rd parties will or can ever tell you

funny/silly/crazy thing is, very often, the moment you step into the maker role, or on stage, etc, you almost immediately forget everything you knew or thought you knew when you were on the other end so much of a maker's journey is about rediscovering the joy of being a fan https://t.co/tcN5ABrKSJ

this strange illusion of sorts is why "make stuff people want" is legitimate business advice because when you get in the maker's seat, it's very tempting to try and make something that seems like it "ought" to be made, something "professional" or "polished" or "substantial"

Oh yeah true! Parent/child, boss/employee... you knew what you wanted but it’s easy to forget. You’re almost incentivized to forget, it seems 🤔 or you’re just not really incentivized to remember, not obviously 🤔 https://t.co/jpQOu4xscV

I think taste can largely be improved by exposure, and one of the tactical recommendations for getting better at copy is simply keeping a "swipe file": when you find a sales message landing hard with you, copy it and see if you can reuse elements of it later.
