Off to visit the ancestral sourceland! Not sure I’ll have wifi. See y’all in a week 👋🏾🤓 https://t.co/IjTssmKFMP

Me, trying to make small talk: huh, look, is that the American plane? Dad: ya. It’s the one they used for... the... used for... Me: domestic flights...? Dad: use for the September 11 https://t.co/g7J60QI89k

There’s this interestingly uniform way many Indian guys dress - hair cut short and neat - shirts with checks or stripes - jeans (sometimes khakis or cargo pants) - running shoes, slippers or sandals - backpack (the little kid too! 👕👖👟🎒) https://t.co/zkoRYd8mrk

So like... while outsiders probably won’t notice the difference (“it’s all a bunch of brown dudes init?”), it’s very obvious to these folks that I’m not from their ingroup. Wrong hair, wrong shirt, wrong shoes and missing backpack 😅 https://t.co/zRqfpNerbg

Mum: can we take a selfie?? Dad: *extremely uninterested* https://t.co/IXhTLC7Ndt

My flight read! Ok we are moving, byeeee 👋🏾😘 https://t.co/phO96rPJpH

Day Three https://t.co/vuIpJt8g9P

Day Four https://t.co/HT6z5n8REG

Day 4! Observation: South Indian mosquitos are much easier to kill than Southeast Asian ones. They seem slower & stupider. I’ve killed like 10 of these guys within the first three attempts. I don’t condone revenge killings but these arseholes *are* persistent (that’s my blood) https://t.co/6ZDqLU3n2F

Day Five https://t.co/INz9qQZsXk

Day 5, my last day in India (for this trip!) woke up to have breakfast in our Trichy hotel. It’s interesting how hotels around the world (well - around Asia, afaik) have the same “format” while each of course having their own local specialties and flavours represented https://t.co/m07E7mSPKQ

On my recent trip to India (Trichy & Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu), I was *fascinated* by the trucks, lorries and buses on the roads. Going through my notes, I find myself wanting to look them up. The brand that stood out the most for me was Ashok Leyland: https://t.co/FoP4hvZkmL https://t.co/5sXM09aiPb
