Feel like doing a Margaery Tyrell appreciation thread. They really did my Queen wrong 😠https://t.co/4HjESmF3K1

(Margaery by the way was my favourite character in Game of Thrones - complex, multi-faceted, thoughtful and kind to others while simultaneously rigorous in pursuing her own self-interest... I was extremely mad when they killed her in a damn cop-out of a bomb blast) https://t.co/EKy8k0jeIw

Maggie was a lady of passions - she was eager to participate in the world, eager to be a useful and good part of it. She enjoyed living https://t.co/kFunJduZm6

But she wasn’t all about herself - she was considerate and attentive to the feelings of others https://t.co/ZjW2wQKj6j

She was beautiful and smart and kind - and, justifiably, she was ambitious as well. She did not deny this about herself. She played her hand as best as she could https://t.co/uCCKdITfYA

She was not in the slightest bit offended or upset by Renly’s sexual disinterest in her - she was instead extremely patient, understanding and supportive, focusing on what she thought was best for her would-be King https://t.co/Sszk0kdoUy

When she was stuck with an asshole like Joffrey, she managed him and handled his nonsense with finesse and grace https://t.co/hR73YvIVmp

Of all of the women in Westeros, she struck me as the one with the most *finesse*. She was not naive, or bitter, or angry, or vengeful, or envious, or petty. She had a pretty good sense of the world, and navigated it with a smile, a kind word, a laugh. Making time to help others https://t.co/Am8Va78Tb8

She spent time with her elders, enjoyed their company, listened to their counsel https://t.co/kwP2EVmEBq

She spent time with the children of King’s Landing, and they loved her https://t.co/QsMQ7dhygI

She is kind and sweet to Brienne when she receives her. B: I will avenge our king M: Joffrey is our king now B: [flustered] I meant no offence M: [sweetly] you’ve given none https://t.co/mThgbl6mfq

I do have to admit - it is depressingly poignant that Maggie, like many other smart and sensitive women in real life, figured out that she was going to get killed before it happened https://t.co/qRTK7DByrS

Maybe it is ultimately appropriate in the context of the narrative that the lady most deserving to be Queen basically got sledgehammered by a 2nd-rate cheater a la Triple H. It’s all part of the game, the game is not obliged to be good to artful players - only to whoever survives https://t.co/MwmcYzoDo1

(About the Triple H reference...) https://t.co/B3Qibkz6Z0

I’m still mad though. RIP Queen Margaery Tyrell, a brief, shining example of what could’ve been, too good for the wretched world of Westeros, and probably too good for this one as well. https://t.co/YlAdN4jeK2
