an interesting assumption that's buried in some insults is the assumption that the person you're insulting does not (and will never have) the capability of learning, and growing from their experience to eventually rise above the standard that you imply they'll never reach
I see this with people putting down creatives – telling them to stop painting, stop writing, stop making things, because they're making shitty work. why? 🤔 why not encourage them instead? successful discouragement = you get nothing. successful encouragement = maybe great art
