I sigh because this feels like a metaphor for my entire life as a tall brown minority person if I do wrong amongst a group of other people who are also doing wrong, 90% of the time, I get singled out and made an example of such is (our) life

incidentally, this experience makes me very sympathetic to women, who go through something similar – and i'm always confused when brown folks aren't feminist or when feminists are indifferent to racial prejudice it's all the same struggle https://t.co/B4Ykp0mCgo

I’m not kidding about the hero thing - I was *obsessed* with it. My username everywhere was “visaisahero”. I think I’ve always felt, as a misfit, that an ordinary life was not for me. It felt like I was either going to have to learn to fly, or burn out https://t.co/4D3akGhthD

Obama still blows my mind, too. A non-Hawaiian in Hawaii. A non-Indonesian in Indonesia. A Christian with a Muslim name. A half-Black dude in white society. A half-White guy in black society. No in-group. No table at the cafeteria. No way to blend in, no archetype to follow. https://t.co/RJsTacaHbO

Watching Mohammed Amer on Netflix and, again, fascinated and inspired by the charisma and intelligence of all these kids caught in cultural crossfires https://t.co/eyaUSdZwGe
