It’s interesting to me how, while we’ve generally as a species shaken off the idea of kings with divine mandates to rule over lesser humans, a lot (most?) of our aspirational myths are still centered on monarchies - from Thor and T’Challa to Elsa and Jasmine

Otherwise, you often have to be a chosen one with special powers (Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter) or born very rich (Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne)

E.g. the Sultan and his vizier quibble over what "the law" says about what the Princess has to do re: marriage. But who wrote this law? Where did it come from? What is the history of legislature in Agrabah? 🤔

I suppose a part of it is like how so many old paintings are either of monarchs or gifts to monarchs - ordinary folk didn’t think of their stories as worth telling, or didn’t have the time/energy to tell them
