This promoted tweet, while muted, is still playing audio on my headphones as it scrolls past my feed. I can hear the audio 'pop' in because my headphones kind a suck. Is this my computer's shitty audio pipeline, or some kind of attempt at an audio tracking beacon? https://t.co/3aqPVQrVd4

Seems a combination of poor electrical isolation in audio card and some kind of power reduction circuit for when the headphones run on Bluetooth. The pop is when the carrier signal is picked up by the circuit, & there is a count down during silence before it shuts off. Annoying.

USB dongle based sound cards = <3.I mean.. its cool that I can navigate my screen with my eyes closed and all, but all the static from the PSU/CPU coupling is mostly just distracting. It seems i still get the 'pop' from audio turning on, but its not stream of static screaming.

I speculated in youth that I could record sound coming out of my tower's audio port and reverse engineer what the CPU was doing. This was in ~2003.Everyone called me crazy.I still confuse side-channel attack & sidechain +attack.https://t.co/dOZgisILTrhttps://t.co/TlJ5yXyTvF

I wanna build a meshnetwork based on artificial echo-location, but using IR light instead of sound. I imagine swarms of robots communicating with each other by heating up their transistors in complex patterns, i'd call them fireflies.

Everybody was freaking out when badBIOS hit the news in 2013. Meanwhile I'm sitting here thinking "its about fucking time"... and "why aren't we doing this with HD LEDs yet?"https://t.co/MuJNpsl6wq

The pun here, is that I was saying "HD" as in "hard-drive", but that TED video is about transmitting HD (high definition) video using LEDs.Oh by the way, this happened too. https://t.co/z1WWJq3Oej

The really fun thing is you can take these various channels of communication and perform a sensor-fusion system. Jumping channels & using canary traps to detect interlopers. Its a defensive homomorphic encryption thing where data is spread out on network. https://t.co/382vIeucMs

I think evolution of communication, and maybe conscious itself? is on the back of these sort of systems. Wanting to signal multiple things at same time, but in such a way that even your own thinking is ignorant of it? Hello Dennett.https://t.co/w1gCquKe1Ghttps://t.co/ZIgCRzxZsC

I find it fascinating that they used the Harlow Experiment here: https://t.co/sPkRcVQhGq https://t.co/nFXdFAVZzp

Deepmind literally basing their exploration of AI using models of thought that stem from limited world views of western psychological tradition. Its cute.https://t.co/HcVoduHrUi

We're only just now coming to an understanding of how the research in AI has been biased by a language fetish.https://t.co/yMndAxArbP

@Plinz @eboyden3 I came to a similar conclusion. I traced Minsky and McCarthy (inventor of lisp) influences to how they set the stage for AI to be about language reasoning, diverting it from information theory / cybernetics. Moved field away from embodiment + agent based. https://t.co/94IKawMQEs https://t.co/gDRNqoTs4W

A fetish of western thought - a system of hierarchical prestige norms stemming from imitating the church. An idea so woven into society's fabric that we hardly ever question why it was even there to begin with.Creating the god lobster in our image.https://t.co/JWB6j0I1jk https://t.co/nRYYibHJOF

The god-lobster is a metaphor I've been building. An idea something I want to build.Who put this idea here?https://t.co/JeP8KGe8O1

The "godlobster" is a joke. Sadly some people are taking it far too seriously.https://t.co/xNTyNONX8C

Can you imagine an AI built in the image of google - a system of surveillance capitalism, tied to the hip of american rugged individualism, under the lens of 'vulgar libertarianism', and framed as a religious institution? Me either.https://t.co/3SfN67m8Ds

I don't actually think this god metaphor is speaking to me when I roll the dice to look up scripture. Its a game I use to tap at my mental models and see what drops out.https://t.co/CYuJZtHism

This whole thread is poking fun at "PANDAS".https://t.co/whbB4eE6Bv

PANDAS, you know...You know the whole "hypothesized neurological disorder."Hmm. That can't be right. Now wait, let me disambiguate. It might be one of these.https://t.co/18swzjsJrl https://t.co/b7YLF9uXtH

How do I compress the ideas in my head sufficiently enough that mere mortals can understand the words coming out of my moutherfucker? Say what again, I dare you!https://t.co/z5WUNoeWoZ

How does one compress an idea of compression that is it self a self refrential idea of compression? A joke.https://t.co/GowlfZj6Rr

A narrative compression. A good joke is like the Socratic method. You have to think for your self to really get it. Get it? The joke is about veild signals and shrouded whit. Complex signaling networks compressing meaning as cryptographic thought.https://t.co/VGRZzG3sBQ
